Big ginkgo tree at Sairenji Temple Ibaraki prefecture in Japan

Lake Kasumigaura, located in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, is the second largest lake after Lake Biwa.
On the east bank is Sairenji Temple, which is said to have been founded in 782 during the Nara period.
Two gigantic ginkgo trees, said to be the oldest in Kanto, live here.
These two trees are called No. 1 and No. 2, and both have trunk circumferences of over 6 meters and tree heights of over 25 meters.
It has been designated as a natural monument by Ibaraki Prefecture, and in December, the ground looks like a yellow carpet, and people can be seen having fun while raking up fallen leaves.
It is best to go by car, but you can also take a bus from Tsuchiura Station on the JR Joban Line to Michi-no-Eki Tamatsukuri, and then take a 10-minute taxi ride.

西蓮寺に最古の大銀杏があるのですね。
今年の12月には見に行きたいです。
千葉寺、鎌倉の八旛宮、稲田山西念寺など、古刹に大銀杏はよくみかけますが、ここはしりませんでした。
